An error says my Install URL has expired. How do I link my device to the location now?

The Install URL is what links a device to its designated location. If unused for a month after adding the location to your Restaurant Alert + Deliver app within your Shopify store, it expires. This is for security reasons.

ℹ️ FAQ: Does this mean the Install URL expires every month after I’ve successfully linked my device to its location? Do I have to re-link the device every month?

Answer: Nope! The Install URL only expires when unused, and once you’ve successfully linked your device, there is no need to do so again unless you’ve chosen to unlink your device.

Don’t worry! It’s easy to generate a new one and proceed with linking your device to your chosen branch location.

⚠️ This requires the Android tablet device (per branch location) to be ready. Our app is compatible with touchscreen Android devices OS Version 5 and above.

Step 1

On the designated Android device for your branch location, download the In-Store Merchant App on Google Play Store. You can download the app through this link.

Step 2

Log into your Shopify Store and go to Apps > Restaurant Alert + Deliver > Locations.

Step 3

Select the location you would like to link a device to.

Step 4

You will be brought to the page with the location’s details. On the right hand side of the screen, you will see the Merchant App details.

⚠️ This step requires that a location has already been added to the Restaurant Alert + Deliver app within your Shopify Store. If you haven’t done so yet, you can read the instructions here.

Step 5

Under Merchant App, you will find the Install URL. If there is an error that says the URL has Expired, simply click Generate a New URL.

Step 6

Once a new URL has been created, you may click Show to see the URL or simply click the clipboard icon on the right to copy the URL to your clipboard. Send this URL to the Android device (via email or chat that can be opened on the Android device).

ℹ️ This Install URL needs to be opened on the Android device itself, as this will link the device to the designated location.

💡 Alternatively, if the device is on your person, you may also click Show QR to link your device using a QR code instead. Clicking this will generate a QR code you can scan with your device using the In-Store Merchant App.

Step 7

Open the Install URL on the Android device. This should instantly lead you to the In-Store Merchant App.

💡 If you're linking through QR Code, open your In-Store Merchant App, tap Scan QR, scan the QR code, and tap Link Device in the confirmation window.

Step 8

You will be asked to confirm if you would like to continue linking the device to the designated branch location. Click Link Device to confirm.

🏁 You’re done! 🏁

You’ll be able to check if your branch device was successfully linked to its designated branch location on the Shopify Settings. You may do so by logging into your Shopify Store and going to Apps > Restaurant Alert + Deliver > Locations, and select the location you would like to check. The App settings should be displayed instead of the Install URL, as seen below:
